A Guide to Statewide Programs of Illinois DeMolay

State Programs are determined annually by the Executive Officer, State Officers, and State Staff of Illinois DeMolay.  Months specified are typical times of year the event has been held.  Due to scheduling, events may be held in different months.  Refer to the State Calendar for dates the event will be held this year.

February ID Basic Training. Friday through Sunday in February.  Designed for New DeMolays, Councilors, Sweethearts and Advisors, this weekend will showcase how a DeMolay Chapter should operate.  Learn about the Honors and Awards available to DeMolay Members, how to memorize your ceremony parts and plan for fun activities you can do back at your home Chapter.  Dress will be casual all weekend.  Meals Provided, Saturday-All, Sunday Breakfast).  Dormitory accommodations 4-8 per room.

March Basketball Weekend. Typically held the 2nd Weekend in March, this annual Basketball Tournament is an open competition among chapters.  Teams may consist of DeMolay Members only, DeMolay/Sweetheart Court mixed team or only a Sweetheart Court team.  Teams are in two classes, Junior Division for ages 15 and under or Unlimited Class where there are no age requirements.  Saturday Evening will be the annual DeMolay Prom so formal clothes are required.  An induction ceremony is held on Saturday before competition begins to welcome any new members.

No meals provided.  Hotel accommodations 4 youth per room / 2 Advisors per room (why Advisor fee is slightly higher).

May Sports Rally Weekend. Held over Memorial Day Weekend, Sports Rally provides a weekend of fun and sports for participants.  Each year, two sports are chosen such as Soccer, Baseball, Basketball or Flag Football.  Saturday dinner is typically provided.  Sleeping accommodations are determined by the location of the event.  Casual dress all weekend.

July Illinois DeMolay Conclave. Held Friday through Sunday in early to mid July, this is Illinois DeMolays annual convention held at Eureka College in Eureka Illinois.  Sportsfest is one of the highlights where various individual and team competitions are held and trophies awarded.  Various non sports oriented events are also put on such as movies, video games, swimming and much more.  Advisors are expected to help staff event areas.  Saturday, only DeMolays will attend a formal business meeting to conduct state business and elect the next year’s State Officers and State Sweetheart.  State honors and awards are also handed out.

Formal dress required Saturday night and Sunday morning.  Meals provided, Friday-Dinner, Saturday-All, Sunday-Breakfast).  Friday Lunch on your own and special rate available from a campus restaurant at the student commons area. Dormitory accommodations 2 per room.

August Six Flags Great America. Held on one of the last weekends in August, this Masonic Youth event is open to DeMolay, Sweetheart Court, Jobs Daughters and Rainbow for Girls.  DeMolay members meet at a local Masonic Lodge in the morning to hold an induction ceremony for new members, head to Six Flags Great America for some fun, then off to a local evening event.  This is a single day event so no accommodations are provided and no meals provided.  Discount admission rates may be made available to non DeMolay family members & guests.  Casual dress for the event (unless specified by an evening activity).

November Illinois DeMolay Fallfest. An annual ritual competition held Friday through Sunday of the Thanksgiving weekend.  The event has been regularly held at the Route 66 Motel in Springfield. Both individual and team competitions and held and trophies awarded.  Chapter points will be added up to determine the Chapter Ritual Supremacy award for the year.  Friday night is a statewide Dodgeball competition and Saturday night a dance is held.  Dress for the weekend is suits/dresses for the competition, Saturday dinner and the dance.  Meals provided, Saturday-All, Sunday-breakfast).  Friday is on your own.  Hotel accommodations 4 youth per room / 2 Advisors per room.  Chapter should obtain from the State office the Fallfest rules and ritual completion sheets.  All advisors are expected to help judge events.
