Just for Girls

How can girls get involved in DeMolay?

Since the founding of DeMolay, co-ed activities has been a cornerstone to teach young people how to interact respectfully with each other.  Through the Masonic Youth programs, this is as important today as it was when our organizations were founded.

There are two Masonic youth programs for young women along with the Illinois DeMolay Sweetheart Courts.  The International Order of Job’s Daughters and International Order of the Rainbow for Girls provide stand alone programs separate from DeMolay which builds on the leadership and character development of young women.  Each organization has impressive ceremonies and activities for the young women with plenty of opportunities to join DeMolay in their events too!

The Illinois DeMolay Sweetheart Courts are formed within Chapters for young women who may not have a Rainbow Assembly or Job’s Daughters Bethel available to join or would just prefer to help support the DeMolay Chapter directly.

About the Illinois DeMolay Sweetheart Courts

The Illinois DeMolay Sweetheart Court program provides an opportunity for young women ages 12 to 21 to get involved with the activities of the DeMolay Chapter.  Meeting the same nights as the Chapter, the primary goal of the Courts is to help the Chapter welcome in new members while having fun with the guys in DeMolay activities.

Unlike Rainbow and Job’s Daughters, there is no stand alone program just for the girls.  The Court will only participate in the co-ed activities of the Chapter.  Many girls opt to join the Court and become a member of Job’s Daughters or Rainbow for Girls if available in their area.

Not every Chapter has a Sweetheart Court program so check the Chapter Locator to see if a Court is active with your local DeMolay Chapter.

About the International Order of Job’s Daughters

Job’s Daughters, founded in 1920, is an organization of young women between 10 and 20 years of age.  Girls must have a “Masonic relationship” in their family line (a blood relative).

The program incorporates well rounded activities such as social, civic service and charitable events.  There are fun local and statewide events, the opportunity to meet new friends (sisterhood), build your self confidence and leadership skills and support the state charity H.I.K.E. (The Hearing Impaired Kids Endowment Fund).

About the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls

The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls was founded in 1922 for girls who’s fathers were members of Masonic Lodges.  Membership in Rainbow is open to any young woman between the ages of 11 and 20 who are friends of Rainbow Girls, daughters of Master Masons, Eastern Stars, members of the Amaranth, or recommended by any of these sponsors.

The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls believes that through helping others, we truly help ourselves. The benefits a young girl can gain from performing acts of kindness are endless—pride from volunteering for a community clean-up project, the joy of playing checkers with a senior citizen, and the accomplishment of raising funds to support another charitable organization. These are all ways that Rainbow guides young women toward becoming responsible, caring adults.
